Media Freedom and Moldova

Kaitlyn’s media minute focused on media freedom in Moldova and surrounding countries.

** interesting http://www.zdg.md/politic/barometrul-global-al-coruptiei-al-ti-justitia-ramane-domeniul-cel-mai-afectat-de-coruptie

She shared several years of rankings on the Media Freedom Index from RSF, and summarized:

Moldova’s censorship has gotten worse, not better! Its surrounding countries of Romania and Ukraine are also worsening – up until 2009 this area functioned under heavier communism.

How does the state of media censorship of surrounding countries play into this?

Do you think there’s a link? The guardian did a test where they came up with evidence to substantiate that there is selective political filtering of Moldova’s internet http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/datablog/2012/apr/16/internet-censorship-country-list
