Russian News Agency goes global

Recently, CNN announced it would stop broadcasting  on Russian cable networks  at the end of the year due to restrictive ownership rules. At the same time Russia announced a new global network, Sputnik, with news hubs in 34 countries and more than 1,000 staffers  producing radio, social media and news wire content in local languages paid for by Russia.  Sputnik and its network of bureaus will span five continents and include offices in the former Soviet Union, Beijing, Cairo and Western capitals like Washington, Berlin and Montevideo, Uruguay.
